When we create new site then Root site will be shown as home page. Under that we can create many sites; but how can we show\ modify navigations according to our requirements.

I am going to explain difference between Current Navigation and Global Navigation.

Global Navigation – This is shown at the top of the page along with the site collection Home page tab.

Current Navigation - This is shown in the side of the page most of the times.

How can we modify navigation as per our requirements ->

1) Browse the Site -> Click on Site Actions -> Site Settings.

2) Click on Navigation

3) Select the option according to your choice

4) Navigation Editing and Sorting  -> This section is used to reorder, modify or create new navigation under this site.

You will find this Navigation Tool Bar for settings.

If you want to create new tab in site for top navigation then add heading under global navigation

If you want to add child link under some top navigation tab then add link in particular heading

If you want to create a new parent link in side navigation bar then add Heading under current navigation.

If you want to create new child link in the side navigation bar then add link within heading under current navigation.
